Global Policy and Advocacy

Stakeholder Forum’s work on global policy and advocacy seeks to promote progressive and inclusive policy on international sustainable development. It conducts policy consultations, lobbies for particular policy outcomes at a UN level, produces briefing and background papers as well as building coalitions and setting agendas. Stakeholder Forums’ initiatives in this area are listed below:

The UN Conference on Sustainable Development in Brazil in 2012 (more commonly known as Rio+20) will be the fourth conference of its kind. It represents another milestone in ongoing international efforts to accelerate progress towards achieving sustainable development globally. Rio +20 will take place in June, 2012; 20 years after the second UN Conference on Sustainable Development held in Rio in 1992.

Global Environmental League Tables

Stakeholder Forum has produced a series of Global League Tables on countries' commitments to Multilateral Environmental Agreements, which can be found here.

Earth Summit 2012

Stakeholder Forum has played a critical role in advocating for an Earth Summit in 2012, which has now been approved by the UN General Assembly. Stakeholder Forum will continue to play a key co-ordinating role in the run-up to this crucial policy event.

The Water and Climate Coalition (formerly the GPPN) is a joint initiative of Stakeholder Forum and Stockholm International Water Institute, working with global stakeholders to identify priorities for the international water and sanitation agenda, and communicate those priorities to decision-makers.
