Growing inequality, environmental decline and "teetering" economies mean the world must change the way it does business, a UN report concludes.
Health and education must improve, it says. Subsidies on fossil fuels should end, and governments must look beyond the standard economic indicator of GDP.

London - 25th January, 2012 – The vital role of our environment within our economy has been hidden until recently. Pollinating crops, balancing our water distribution and even providing genetic resources for our medicine are just a few examples of the life-support that natural resources provide. Yet with no market value, they are consumed freely.
Stakeholder Forum has released two synthesis documents from workshops entitled ‘Towards Bonn2011 Conference: The Water, Energy and Food Security Nexus - Solutions for the Green Economy’ which took place during the recent UNCSD Regional Preparatory Meetings for Africa and Asia-Pacific regions. The workshops represented an opportunity for civil society organizations from these regions to directly input to the debate around water, energy and food security.
On November 7th at the Convention on Biological Diversity SBSTA meeting, Dr. Ahmed Djoghlaf (Executive Secretary of the Convention on Biological Diversity) and Felix Dodds (Executive Director of Stakeholder Forum for a Sustainable Future) launched their book "Biodiversity Insecurity-A Planet in Peril"

Context
Prior to the deadline for submissions into the final outcome document of the 'Rio+20' summit known as the ‘zero draft’, the ICE Coalition and Stakeholder Forum hosted an all day conference to provide an opportunity for different groups to discuss their proposals and seek support for them. It allowed distinguished speakers to stimulate further discussion on the two themes at Rio, the green economy and the institutional framework of sustainable development; and allow for the ICE Coalition to show how an International Court for the Environment would complement the institutional framework for sustainable development.
