The Board of Directors of Stakeholder Forum for a Sustainable Future is pleased to announce the appointment of Farooq Ullah as the new, incoming Executive Director.

The Ministry of the Environment of Finland and Stakeholder Forum, along with partners, are working together to establish a network through which NSDCs can share best practice and promote sustainable development domestically and internationally.

Organised by Stakeholder Forum and UNEP the event will take place on Sunday 29th of April at the Church Centre, New York, from 9:15 am to 4:00 pm. The agenda will cover:

(Sunday, 22nd April) This year’s 42nd Earth Day has special significance in the run-up to the Rio+20 Earth Summit as it marks an opportunity for people to unite their voices in a call for action in this crucial year. Earth Day is seen as a launch pad for global action on sustainability and this year its role is even more crucial as it can revitalise the Rio+20 process, ensuring that the last months before the summit are not wasted.

In order to implement paragraph 21 of General Assembly resolution A/RES/64/236, which "encourages the active participation of all major groups" at all stages of the preparatory process, the Rio+20 Secretariat, in partnership with the Stakeholder Forum, and with the support of the European Commission Directorate General for the Environment, is offering a series of capacity building workshops.

This month we launched the Global Transition 2012 newsletter with highlights from our Global Transition 2012 Initiative, which aims to achieve an outcome from Rio+20 that catalyses a global transition to an economy that maximizes wellbeing, operates within environmental limits, and is capable of coping and adapting to global environmental change in an equitable manner.
