The strength of Stakeholder group’s representation
can roughly be divided into 3 categories.

Best represented were NGOs
(14 respondents), Business and Industry
(13), and The Scientific and Technological Community
(11).

Local and Regional Authorities
(7), Renewable Energy Manufacturers and Suppliers
(6), Actors in Poverty Alleviation and Development
(6), and Consumers (5) were all moderately
represented.

Groups with no significant representation
were Women (1), Trade Unions
(1), and Farmers (0).
Areas of work (73)
Policy Development was the
most popular area of work that the respondents to the survey
were involved in (59% of respondents) with Capacity
Building a close second (52%). Community Projects
(35%), Renewable Energy Financing (32%), and
R & D (32%) formed the next tier of popularity.
The Energy Supply (21%) sector and RE
technology Manufacture (7%) were the least represented
areas of work.
Region (73)
Just under half of our respondents came from
Europe (49%). Asia Pacific
(17%), Africa (15%) and North
America were well represented but the regions
of Latin America and
the Caribbean (8%) and Eastern Europe,
Caucasus, Central Asia (3%) did not
have significant representation.
Beneficiaries of the work (71)
Of the five sets of beneficiaries that we defined
for our respondents four received almost exactly the same number
of responses; Communities (40), Energy
consumers (39), Policy Makers (39),
and Business (39). The fifth set Women’s
Groups (17) was conspicuously underrepresented with
less than half the representation of the other four.
Partners (71)
Our respondents worked with a fairly balanced range of partner
types. Business (47) partnering was the most
common form while Community Groups (34) were
the least frequent partner. Sandwiched between the two Partnerships
with Local Government (43), NGOs
(42), and International Organisations/UN Agencies
(41) were similarly represented.
