World Water Monitoring Day
18 October 2006

World Water Monitoring Day is an international outreach program that builds public awareness and involvement in protecting water resources around the world. Held annually between September 18 and October 18, the program engages communities in monitoring the condition of local rivers, streams, estuaries and other water bodies.  Since its inception, more than 80,000 people have participated in 50 countries.

Conference on Efficient Management of Wastewater, its Treatment and Reuse in the Mediterranean Countries

The conference will seek to foster the exchange of experience and present state-of-the-art knowledge on issues such as low-cost technologies, operation and management of wastewater treatment plants, decentralization of wastewater treatment, ecological sanitation and wastewater reuse.

Third International Conference on Water Resources in the Mediterranean Basin

Eigth Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Basel Convention COP8
27 November – 1 December 2006, Nairobi, Kenya
The Basel Convention is the broadest and most significant international treaty on hazardous and other wastes. It regulates the international trade in hazardous waste and aims to minimise their generation and transboundary movement. The Basel Convention addresses issues such as ship dismantling, pesticides and POPs.

Second International Conference on Estuaries and Coasts

The central topic of this conference will be to advance estuarine and coastal engineering research to enhance the ecological environment. The East Asian Seas Congress 2006
