SF is supporting the engagement of stakeholders in the World Bank Climate Investment Funds (CIF) 2nd Partnerships Forum in Manila, March 2010.

The Climate Investment Funds are a pair of financing instruments designed to support low-carbon and climate-resilient development through scaled-up financing channelled through the African Development Bank , Asian Development Bank , European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Inter-American Development Bank , and World Bank Group. The Funds are made up of the Clean Technology Fund and the Strategic Climate Fund.

The CIF Second Partnerships Forum, 18th and 19th March 2010, which is being hosted by the Asian Development Bank, seeks to provide a space to share lessons learned from the CIF initial design process and from early implementation of the CIF-funded projects. It provides one of the first opportunities for stakeholders to interact with one another and governments and to inform the decision-making process.

Stakeholder Forum has been requested by the CIF Administration Unit to ensure the effective participation of stakeholders in the CIF Second Partnerships Forum. Working with an advisory group of civil society representatives, Stakeholder Forum will be:

  • supporting the development of a criteria for selecting southern NGO representatives to the meeting
  • generating awareness amongst all stakeholders of the CIF second partnerships meeting
  • generating a full procedure report from the meeting available for participating and non-participating stakeholders
  • producing a series of podcasts live from the CIF second partnerships meeting.
